transphase technology is used to conduct 'experiments' on 'subjects of interest' on 'primitive' planets, ie planets which have limited manned space travel capacity and limited or no ability to transmit a distress signal even if the subject is identified by the authorities. because such technology is unknown on the subject's native planet it is of little concern that it might be discovered as past subjects simply don't understand what is occuring and cannot rationalize what they are experiencing. this means the subject is unlikely to even reach to known associates for help, let alone any authoritative bodies. particular favourites are those detected to have telepathic ability. these subjects are approached while asleep, at night, made pliant and installed with relevent 'observational' instrumentation.

this experimentation is justified as field study on 'primitives'. their lower evolutionary status ensures disinterest in their survival, should anything unfortunate occur. all study subjects are officially sanctioned through the relevent chanels.
